Now, when it comes to rod and reel specifications for the Gutsy Minnow, we personally like throwing a six-six to a six-10 medium action rod, that way it allows you to really feel the bait at the tip of that rod. When you're throwing a medium-heavy to a heavy rod, you're really losing the action in the tip to sacrifice that for the power at the bottom.

As this lure has two Japanese style treble hooks, you really don't need that much power in the rod. The hooks are going to do the job for you. When throwing this bait, you really want to do a moderate retrieve to even a twitch-twitch-pause action, that way, the bait, darts and dives, as you're retrieving it, causing that fish that's looking at it to come in and take it every time.
